This 12,000square foot home was a Design-Build project by ShearWater Inc., a partnership between May River Contracting & Matt Taylor Architects.
The home is built on the ocean and was designed to withstand liquifaction, 140 mph winds, and power outages. The structure is built of concrete & steel, all exterior metals are stainless steel, with teak decks on all surfaces. The pools and garage floors are built of book matched "white wood" marble. The HVAC system is Geothermal with 44 closed loop wells.
The interior of the house has a custom Italian vanishing kitchen, stainless steel and lexan lighted stairs. Corian and teak millwork elements were built by the MRC team of craftsmen from all over the country and are integral to the design.
In our fabrication shop in Hardeeville, SC we built poured concrete panels, we used 4 different local millwork shops for the teak doors and frames, the redwood wine closet, and teak flooring.
It's safe to say there is nothing else like it anywhere!
